We love photographing at the InterContinental Hotel Boston . Recently, our colleague and friend Michelle, who is normally behind the scenes at the InterCon, got her time in the spotlight for her wedding day.
For most of Michelle and Brian’s family, this was a destination wedding to the beautiful city of Boston. Michelle’s family traveled from New York and New Jersey, and the groom’s family made the trip all the way from Ireland to join the couple on this special day. After Michelle and her bridesmaids got ready, we made our way downstairs to meet Brian at the church for the ceremony. Before we could leave the building Michelle got the surprise of a lifetime — all of the InterContinental Hotel Boston employees and staff had lined the halls of the lobby to greet her and wish her well. They clapped, cheered, and hugged as their friend and colleague headed off to get married, it was a truly special moment!
Following the ceremony at the Gate of Heaven Church in South Boston, we headed back to the InterCon for formal photographs. One of our favorite parts of weddings at the InterCon are the variety of locations for photos! The beautiful Boston Harbor is right behind the hotel, the Four Point Channel Park across the street is full of bright greenery, and bustling Atlantic Avenue is perfect for fun city shots. The Abigail Adams Ballroom was transformed for the reception with classic white, ivory, and gold. A rose-pattered light washed the white dance floor and the gorgeous floral arrangements were held in modern mirrored vessels surrounded by warm votive candles.
We asked Michelle to describe the vision for her wedding day, and here’s what she had to say!
We wanted our wedding to be classy, elegant, and romantic with soft hues of whites, ivory, gold, and blush. Brian is from Ireland and I’m from New York — we met in Boston and wanted to hold our wedding here in this beautiful city as it holds a special meaning for us as the place that brought us together! Our wish is that all of our family and friends enjoy this amazing historical city during their time here and that our wedding day will be filled with many happy memories, laughs, love, joy, togetherness, and celebration! We are so grateful for our families and the friends that have turned into family and are so thankful for everyone that has been able to make the journey to Boston!
